Get involved.
You know your working conditions, your workspace, and your coworkers best. That's why it's critical that we all get involved in our union in one way or another and talk to each other. This is the only way we win the respect and dignity we all deserve!
Our most important goal right now is to build a network of workers who are organizing and talking to each other about work each and every day.
If you've had a fellow coworker come to your office, set up a table outside your building, or call you on the phone, that's exactly what they're doing! We need robust information flow back and forth between our Bargaining Committee and all of us. This keeps all of us on the same page about what we're fighting for, why, and how hard to fight for these things.
Interested in getting involved in the fight by talking to fellow workers? Fill out your Union Card, check off the box saying you'd like to get involved, and we'll be in touch!
Join the Contract Action Team (CAT)! Or another team!
You are also welcome to join our Contact Action Team (CAT)! The CAT makes important strategic decisions about how to best reach the 1200 workers in our union strong, and what actions to take to apply pressure to the University so that they give us what we need in our first contract.
Being on the CAT is a volunteer role: we do what we can. Everyone does their part to make sure we win what we deserve. From each according to their ability, to each according to their need!
You can also get involved in some of other teams:
Do you have like making things, visual or written? Join the Communications team to help create flyers and instagram posts, write newsletters, update the website, and more.
Do you like crunching the numbers? Join the Research & Data team to help understand the issues affecting us as workers at this University in deep, quantitative ways.
No experience needed—we’ll provide all the training, resources, and support you need.
Want to join a team? Once again: fill out your Union Card, check off the box saying you'd like to get involved, and we'll be in touch!
Put simply: our Bargaining Committee makes excellent arguments at the negotiation table, but to win what we need, we need to talk to each other constantly and have a robust CAT. Get involved now.
