Northwestern University Postdoc Union (NUPU-UE) is a group of your fellow postdocs and Research Associates at NU, committed to advocating for our rights and supporting each other as workers. 

This is a critical moment for all Northwestern Postdocs and Research Associates. As we begin to bargain with the University over our first contract, we’re taking a powerful step toward real improvements in job security, international worker rights, healthcare, fair pay, and the future of scientific research. 

To make this vision a reality, we need strong participation in collective decision making and action  — and that means building a team of dedicated CAT members from across the University to keep everyone informed and involved throughout every step of the bargaining process.

As a CAT member, you'll play a key role in making sure all Postdocs & Research Associates have a voice in the bargaining process. 

CAT members can also join various teams/committees, such as:

• Communications - helps create graphics, newsletters, op-eds, edit the website etc. to keep information up to date

• Research - helps us keep a finger on the issues affecting us as postdocs/RAs to develop proposals and actions to address them in our contract fight

• Solidarity - building our relations with other UE unions, Northwestern unions, and more

• Member education/trainings - help keep members informed on what's going on in bargaining, help run informational sessions, and train new members of the CAT

Being on the CAT is a volunteer role, we do what we can and ask that when it is needed, everyone tries to do their part to make sure we can win what we deserve. 

No experience needed — we’ll provide all the training, resources, and support you need. This is the most impactful way to contribute to real, material improvements for yourself and your coworkers and make sure we win a fair first contract for all Postdocs & Research Associates at Northwestern!
